For the first time, Niger’s national energy data, from production and final consumption to CO2 emissions by sector, are centralised, structured and viewable in a few clicks. The historical series of the Niger Energy Information System, built for the Ministry of Energy under the World Bank-funded HASKE project, now covers 2000 to 2025.
What the platform shows
- Final energy consumption by product, year by year since 2000;
- CO2 emissions by sector of activity over 25 years;
- Key indicators, updated continuously;
- And now, the automatic visualisation of crude oil export flows.
A historic shift
Over the 2000-2025 series, after years dominated by wood energy, crude oil becomes in 2025 the country’s leading energy product, with record total production of close to 340,000 TJ.
In 2025, Niger exported 3,470.75 kilotonnes of crude oil, mainly to Hong Kong (1,093.78 kt), the United States (904.64 kt), Singapore (789.22 kt) and Switzerland (683.11 kt).
Statistics ready in record time
Above all, the 2025 statistics were collected, checked and ready for publication by the eighth month of the year, an unprecedented timeframe for this type of exercise. This is the result of data providers entering their figures directly in the platform, with validation rules applied at the source.
A quarter of a century of energy data turned into a decision-making tool: this is the purpose of an energy information system. Discover our energy information systems or explore the demonstration platform at nigerfront.sig-se.com.
